ABOUT
The Maharashtra stateboard of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education is a statutory and autonomous body establish under the Maharashtra Secondary Board Act1965, amended in 1977. It is the post popular education board terms of enrollment in higher school in India only after the CBSE. It has been ranked 4th in the Futuristic Education Boards in India among more than 35 educational boards in the country.
The board is responsible for formation and implementation of rules and regulation in accordance to the guideline set by the state as well as central boards.
The board is also responsible for creation of textbooks, scoring of centralized tests and conducting examinations. The board conducts examination twice a year. The exam are usually held in the months of March and July every year, and result are given out usually in June and August respectively. There are eight divisional boards with the state .

The periodic reframing of the syllabi of almost all the subjects ensures an adequate coverage of knowledge and information in accordance with the times and the age group of the learners. It also ensures that a proper place is given to the culture, heritage, social reforms, life skills, students’ interests and needs, and that cognizance is taken of the different abilities of students from heterogeneous backgrounds.
